Gosh kids make goofy holidays so fun! And these felt animal masks make it even better!
I made these felt dalmatian ears two years ago and Anabelle still will find them and slip them on to be a puppy! So this year I asked her if she wanted to make a dalmatian mask. She told me Betty wanted a dalmatian and she wanted a cat! Sooo… since we seem to be going with a household pet theme for our felt pet masks, I figured I’d tack on a bird as well!
These masks were super easy (I even included a template below!), and all you really need is some felt and elastic, but we managed to make use of some extra goodies we found in our craft box as well!
Dalmatian mask: white felt, black felt, pink pom pom (or pink felt), glue gun
Black cat mask: black felt, pink felt, pink pom pom (or pink felt), twine, elastic, glue gun
Bird mask: blue felt, orange felt, yellow feathers, elastic, glue gun
Directions for felt pet masks:
1. Print and cut out the templates.
I think they are self explanatory, but here you go. The mask shape is needed for each animal.
2. Step two varies for each mask:
Cut out the mask shape, two of the dog ears, and some random spots from the black felt. Glue the black spots onto the white felt. Then glue the top of the ears to the back of the mask. Secure the ears down by applying a spot of glue to the underside of the ear to attach it to the front of the mask.
Black cat mask:
Cut out the mask shape, two of the triangle ears in black felt, two triangles slightly smaller than the black in pink felt. Glue all the pieces together. Glue on four pieces of twine and then a pink pom pom or pink piece of felt for the nose.
Cut out the mask shape, and one beak. Glue the pieces together. Glue some yellow feathers to the top of the mask .
3. Glue a piece of elastic to the back of the mask.
Make sure the elastic isn’t too tight or it will pull the eye holes into tiny slivers.
