Don’t Anabelle and Betty make the best Tinker Bell and Periwinkle?! I hope Anabelle always remembers these costumes and this shoot with such delight!
When we chose to go with a Tinker Bell costumes this year, we wanted to do something different than the standard Peter Pan and Captain Hook route. Instead, we went with the beloved Netflix movie that Anabelle loves so much, The Secret of the Wing! In this movie, Tinker Bell discovers she has a long lost sister, Periwinkle!! Naturally, Kevin and I get to go as Queen Clarion and Lord Malory (we are saving Lord Malory for Halloween 😉 ).
Tinker Bell and Periwinkle Costumes! The Details:
I wanted these Tinker Bell and Periwinkle costumes to be more realistic than glittery. I thought that Anabelle would appreciate looking exactly like Tinker Bell. After all, she already has a collection of Princess dresses. I had tons of Green fabric from some old curtains for Tinker Bell and I bought a small amount of blue fabric and tulle for Periwinkle. While these costumes aren’t “perfect” they are homemade with love and they surpassed my expectations!
The girls have loved the process from the measuring tape to the constant checking to be sure I wasn’t about to sew the dress too small. Most of all, Anabelle has been excited for her wings so she “can fly.” As soon as we got out to the field of flowers, she spread her arms out wide and started running! She was in absolute heaven!
My favorite part was discovering the perfect shoes to complete both the Tinker Bell and Periwinkle costumes! Found these little shoes on Etsy! And the shop owner was even so kind as to make a matching pair for Betty in just two days!
Oh! Also, I tried to dye Betty’s hair white naturally, and it was an epic fail… So that’s not dandruff, it’s a failed attempt at white hair. Couldn’t get her hair to stick up like Periwinkle’s either, but we tried… We will be investing in white hair chalk for Halloween!
For me, as Queen Clarion, I didn’t have to do much. I already had an old gold sequin shirt that I had been saving for who knows what. And then I spray painted my silver sequin skirt gold! Bought some yellow wings and I was done!
This is the Tinker Bell that we know and love. These are Secret of the Wings sisters! Tinker Bell and Periwinkle made the sweetest ensemble for the sweetest sisters!
