Thursday was my busy Pilates teaching day last week, so Kevin and I didn’t celebrate Valentine’s Day until the weekend. And then, with all that’s going on in our lives right now (you know… Buying a house and having a baby all within months of each other!) we decided not to buy each other gifts. It’s a Hallmark holiday anyway… I just want a special excuse to eat fancy treats and candies and spend quality time with my husband! But regardless of our agreement, we couldn’t help but come up with little surprises for each other! Funny thing is, they were mostly food surprises…I guess we do love our treats! And I started it with sweethearts before work on Thursday!
At the grocery, I found these adorable cheesecake hearts and I knew it would go straight to Kevin’s heart and stomach!
He’s such a cheesecake lover! So I left them for him Thursday night while I ran out teaching!
Red shoes and a big red heart! We may not dress up for dinner, but why not get a little festive for the day?! Or just a random Friday at work…
Friday morning I had some delicious muffins for us! We don’t usually do fancy breakfasts during the week, so pastries are always a fun, welcome treat.
Kevin came home Friday for our annual dinner with these beauties! And my favorite girl scout cookies! What better timing? I was just trying to figure out where to find girl scouts a day or two before. (They’re all gone now by the way…) Didn’t waist any time devouring those!
It’s our Valentine’s Day tradition to make spaghetti carbonara together in our pj’s or sweats. It’s how we spent our first Valentine’s Day together! We tried to go out for a nice steak dinner one year, but it just wasn’t the same. Having fun in the kitchen with both of us laid back, dressed comfortably, listening to music and sipping something festive while helping each other make dinner is just way more up our alley! And it’s the only time of the year that we ever make bacon (his favorite) and pasta (my favorite) in one meal. Of course, as always, it was sooooo good!
Candle, flowers, and Michale Buble were just the icing on the cake for this wonderfully delicious plate of spaghetti and quality time with each other!
Not only are we half way through our first year of marriage and half way through my pregnancy TODAY!, but this Valentine’s Day was super special because Kevin got to feel the little one inside stretch! I’d been feeling the movement for about a week, but it was so special to have Kevin feel it too
